Mindset Psychology is a small, intimate private practice. The philosophy of Mindset is to provide a nurturing, comprehensive, and interdisciplinary approach to working with children, adolescents, parents, and adults. We believe that with the proper support, all individuals are able to unlock their potential and thrive.
Mindset provides individual, couples, and family counseling for children, adolescents, and adults.
Our psychologists have expertise in working with presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, behavioral concerns, obsessions/compulsions, panic, phobias, identity concerns, eating disorders, and school refusal. Our therapists are all licensed psychologists with years of experience in schools, hospitals, community organizations and private practice settings.
Mindset offers comprehensive services for your child and family.
This includes psycho-educational and neuropsychological evaluations targeting ADHD, learning disorders, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional/behavioral disorders. The goal of this evaluation is to identify your child's unique learning profile and utilize this information to create an individualized and comprehensive plan. Unlike many other practices, at Mindset, our psychologists conduct all of the testing themselves. This allows us to gain a more holistic picture of your child and tail the testing battery and recommendations specifically to your child's learning strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, we continue to offer consultation and guidance to families and schools once the testing process has concluded.
Our psychiatry practice welcomes the opportunity for a more comprehensive, wholistic approach to mental health. Instead of the standard 15 minute medication check, our psychiatrist believes in spending time with you and working together to develop a plan that takes into consideration your child's unique emotional, physical, environmental and personal needs.
We also offer tutoring services to work with your child on how best to maximize their academic success given their learning profile. Our tutor works with students to enhance reading decoding, auditory and reading comprehension, and written expression. She is a certified speech and language pathologist and utilizes best practices, such as Orton-Gillingham.
We also over executive functioning coaching. Executive function coaching teaches students how to organize, plan, prioritize, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study efficiently. Self-management skills are increasingly important in a complex world with many distractions and competing priorities. People who learn these skills are better equipped to navigate the challenges of school and adult life!
For parents and school systems seeking to enhance services for students with learning, cognitive, and behavioral challenges, we provide on-site consultation and professional development. Our services are carefully matched to help address specific concerns and needs. We collaborate with school/agency staff and families to assess and enhance educational programs for children and adolescents with diverse diagnoses and special needs. These include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), behavioral disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mental health concerns, and learning disorders.
We also frequently offer talks and seminars on a variety of issues. Past talks have included: Executive Functioning, Transition to College, Managing Anxiety and Perfectionism, and many more. Please contact us to hear more about these services.
Parent Coaching can help you cultivate a better relationship with your children. Coaching addresses issues such as problems with routines and transitions (morning and night, for example), power struggles, parental anger, discipline, homework challenges, chores, and “disrespectful” behavior. Through parent coaching we give customized support and advice based on each individual family’s needs, then assist parents in creating parenting plans, and support parents as they practice these plans. Because children and families can be complex, we help families problem-solve as challenges arise. Parent coaching may involve just the parents or may incorporate more structured sessions with parents and children.
Please Note: Our providers do not participate on any insurance panels at this time. However, we are happy to provide you with an itemized payment receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes.
